Well, there is the picture of a yoga mat on the cover page, but still! And then I let my eyes roam to the other printed words. And then my excitement and expectations started. What would the book be like? Will it have Indian characters, an Indian set-up? And the ultimate question, how the hell are the intimate scenes going to play out?

The Love Asana (Mills & Boon Modern) - Milan Vohra - Google книги

All in all, this book was a pleasant surprise. And this is what I thought: Can I have Vivan? Being a Delhi girl myself, I could totally relate to the description of the city brought out by the author. He held a bunch of crudely made battery-operated plastic fans. Moreover, all the references, whether related to the past events or in general, were bang on! Milan just made the often mundane after-marriage rituals appear sexy. Though I felt that the intimate scenes were quite toned down adhering to the Indian sentiments?

For what? The last line of the book will give an indication as to the title.

Mills and Boon now romances in Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam and Marathi

But they did try to fight it off. Oh yeah! Even to the extend of Riya selling off her much beloved car and moving out of the country- only to land up having pre marital sex before going off to Hong Kong. Okay Rip Van Winkle take a chill pill. I found the constant clash between the characters interesting. Dhruv battleling with his hangups regarding love in a marriage - due to the constant fights between his parents. On the other hand Riya came from a loving home albeit a poor one. She definitely had hangups about money But overall it was these hangups of the two which kept the story moving.

Many readers might feel that every time they were decided to separate only to start kissing after two pages. But isn't that what the clash is supposed to be all about? A clash of emotions? Besides the love story there was another angle which threw light on the characters of the story. Riya taking care of her parents, proud to ask money from anyone while Dhruv silently helping her parents without informing her.

That was the sweetest thing of all.

The moment Jennifer Hayward saw her first Mills & Boon cover!

Joining of hearts is definitely important for the success of any relationship but sensitiveness shown towards each others family also creates a stronger bond between two lovebirds. On the whole I loved this book and would be waiting for Shoma Narayanan's upcoming books. All the best from all the readers.

  1. Product description.
  2. Love handles!
  3. India embraces Mills & Boon - The National!

PS: I think the clash was more between the two covers. Which one to like more? The art or the reality? Leave to you readers. As a reader of romance fiction who lives in India, I had to read this. Shoma Narayanan was one of the winners of Mills and Boon India's contest to find new Indian writers in Her novel, Monsoon Wedding Fever got an international release and is now nominated for a major romance fiction award.

Harlequin Mills and Boon are known for their 'formula' romance novels. Feelgood romantic fiction which has a happy ending. There's usually the main characters meeting in the first chapter, the conflict, the misunderstandings, the black moment and finally, the moment of commitment. Romance fiction is read by women the world over for its tranquillizing effect. A good romance novelist knows how to give her reader a good time, how to make her laugh, cry and sigh in one book.

Contrary to popular illusion, you can't just whip up a romance novel. The challenge for the author is how to make the positive ending credible. A whole generation of bad romance novels put the genre into the area of ridicule.

See a Problem?

But some of the very best authors I have ever enjoyed reading are writers of romance fiction. Partagez votre opinion avec les autres clients. Commentaires client les plus utiles sur Amazon. Although it's under Harlequin, there's no trashy or graphic scenes, it's all left to imagination--So, it's mostly a clean book.

When he suddenly comes back into the picture, she can't stop thinking about him. Riya is a young, grown working woman trying to find romance in her chaotic life, and trying to figure her life out on her own. Since I'm probably in the similar demographic young 20's, woman, sucker for well written chick lit , I really enjoyed this book. It wasn't all too complicated to read, didn't go over any mind bending concepts. Definitely not a classic, but I devoured this book in a few days easily.

So, if you're a sucker for all things bollywood, look here! This essentially is bollywood for your brain. Lately I've been enjoying the Indian culture romance novels however this one didn't flow well in my opinion.

I felt as if there were a lot of words used to describe the heroine inner musings till it became boring and stiff. With all of the inner musings it prevented a true conversation with the hero. Even their interaction was awkward. Also, I felt like the reader was told how the hero felt but was not able to connect to his character due to the manner used to convey his POV. The best part was when I downloaded it in my iPad. I am still searching for a copy. Our very own Indian models on the cover. This was something we all would identify with. The story line was filled with lot of conflicts.

According to some reviewers- too many. But I beg to defer. Dhruv and Riya were college sweethearts but due to the emotional baggage carried by Dhruv it did not have a happily ever after ending. Both carried on with their lives. Why shouldn't they? Gaurav was Riya's flatmate The first shocker for the Rip Van Winkle in me while Dhruv being Gaurav's cousin lands up in the apartment they both were staying in.
